Hartford Mini Canes exists to provide a safe, positive, and rewarding football experience for every child. Our goal is to teach athletic skills, teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship, and respect while fostering a lifelong love of sports and community involvement.
Participation in Hartford Mini Canes is a privilege. All players, coaches, parents, guardians, volunteers, and spectators are expected to uphold the values outlined in this Code of Conduct.
Player Expectations
All players are expected to:
- Demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times.
- Treat teammates, coaches, officials, opponents, and spectators with respect.
- Attend practices and games prepared to learn and participate.
- Follow the instructions of coaches and team volunteers.
- Put forth their best effort regardless of the score or outcome.
- Encourage teammates and contribute positively to team culture.
- Refrain from bullying, harassment, profanity, or unsportsmanlike behavior.
- Respect all facilities, equipment, and property.
Players who fail to meet these expectations may be subject to disciplinary action, including reduced playing time, suspension, or removal from the program.
Parent & Guardian Expectations
Parents and guardians play a critical role in creating a positive youth sports experience.
Parents and guardians agree to:
- Support all players, coaches, officials, and volunteers.
- Encourage effort, improvement, and sportsmanship over winning.
- Respect the decisions of coaches and game officials.
- Refrain from coaching players from the sidelines during practices or games.
- Address concerns respectfully and through appropriate channels.
- Model positive behavior and language at all events.
- Ensure players arrive on time and prepared for practices and games.
- Help foster a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.
Unsportsmanlike conduct, verbal abuse, threats, harassment, or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
Coach Expectations
Hartford Mini Canes coaches are expected to:
- Prioritize player safety and well-being.
- Teach proper football fundamentals and safe techniques.
- Treat every player fairly and respectfully.
- Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and character development.
- Serve as positive role models on and off the field.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with players and families.
- Follow all league rules, policies, and safety requirements.
- Create an environment where athletes can learn, improve, and enjoy the game.
Spectator Expectations
All spectators are expected to:
- Cheer positively for all participants.
- Respect officials and their decisions.
- Refrain from negative comments directed toward players, coaches, officials, or other spectators.
- Avoid disruptive, threatening, or abusive behavior.
- Help create a family-friendly atmosphere at all Hartford Mini Canes events.
Safety First
The safety of our athletes is our highest priority.
All participants must:
- Follow established safety guidelines and league rules.
- Report injuries immediately to coaches or team personnel.
- Use equipment properly and responsibly.
- Follow concussion and return-to-play protocols as required.
Community Values

Enforcement
Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including warnings, suspension from team activities, removal from events, or dismissal from the program.
Hartford Mini Canes reserves the right to determine appropriate disciplinary measures based on the severity and circumstances of each situation.
By participating in Hartford Mini Canes, all players, parents, coaches, volunteers, and spectators agree to uphold these standards and help create a positive experience for everyone involved.
